Spaghetti Dinner Mixer

The MI Parent Volunteers are hosting a dinner mixer that will conveniently begin after the Lunar Festival in downtown RWC ends. Children are welcome. If you are interested in learning about the Mandarin Immersion (MI) program at John Gill Elementary School, this will be a good opportunity to meet current parents and other prospective parents.

Cost: $50 per adult and $5 per school-aged child (excludes alcohol)

Proceeds will go towards the Mandarin Immersion (MI) Fund that pays for the teacher's aide and MI related expenses. We welcome additional donations.

MI Teachers Needed Now and Next Year

We're currently seeking teachers for the MI program at John Gill. Check out the openings below!

After School Program Recreation Leader - OPEN NOW

• Seeking bilingual Recreation Leader for John Gill's MI After School Program
• Hourly position, 20-25 hrs/wk, Monday - Friday
• After school until 4 PM: you will be speaking Mandarin while working with two other Mandarin-speaking staff to organize fun activities for a group of 20 Kindergarten and first grade children.  
• 4 to 6 PM: you will join the English-speaking staff to guide the children for snacks, crafts, and outdoor play.  
• Please email "director@playthrive.org" if you:
  • love playing tag
  • enjoy telling stories/ silly jokes
  • are into folding paper airplanes and teaching techniques, but not actually folding them for the kids (even if they nag!)
  • would like to paint along side the children and ask questions about their artwork  (instead of just saying "Good Job!")
  • can patiently observe children during Maker Time learn through making mistakes (and refrain from stepping in too early to help)
